Here’s an example. The images on the
right are of the magnified drill points of two drills. Note how on the high performance competitive drill, the edge is chipping, even after only a few minutes of operation. Because the center the drill moves much slower than the outer edges, the carbide doesn’t have the resilience to resist the torque and other forces at play. It therefore chips and quality begins to deteriorate.
